First Responder Drones in Action for the Belgian Police and Fire Department

For nearly two years, remotely controlled drones have been supporting emergency services across Belgium. Join us for an interactive session to discover the benefits of having a „bird’s eye view of the scene“ and the key lessons Belgian authorities have learned from real-life drone deployments. Swisscom Broadcast is building a similar network of autonomously flying drones in Switzerland, inspired by Belgium’s success. These security drones are equipped with optical and thermal imaging cameras, allowing emergency teams to assess incidents quickly—precious minutes before first responders arrive on-site: Once an emergency call is received, a drone—remotely operated by a trained pilot from a 24/7 Operation Control Center—immediately takes off. With the support of artificial intelligence, its cameras can detect people, smoke, fire, gas leaks, and more. This innovative service gives police and fire departments a critical visual advantage, helping them to make faster and more informed decisions.
